Simon Says Stamp and Show Something Spookay!

Greetings ... What a brilliant job you all made of our last challenge ... The winners will be announced on Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Something Spookay! If you fancy joining us ... all you need to do is ... Interpret the theme any way you choose then come back here and link up so we can all see what you made! The challenge will close next Sunday at Midnight ... and to start those creative cogs ticking ... here is what the Design Team made for you this week ...
Nancy thinks Tim’s Alcohol Inks make a great background for a spooky birthday card, so she stamped Tim’s Skeleton of a Man on a transparency sheet coloured with AI's – stamped a large tag with Dusty Concord and Wild Honey – used the Scrollwork Alterations die-cut to give a little more of a “Goth” feel to the tag – added a bit of Tissue Tape, a Grunge Board bat – then gave the card to her “spooky” cousin.
SSSNancyC1
Terry had never made something spooky and vintage style before, but had a lot of fun making a tag to use as a bookmarker. She has used lots of glimmermist from Tattered Angels and Distress inks from Tim Holtz: Rusty Hinge, Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint, Dried Marigold, the spooky elements she got from the internet and her lace is from her own stash.
SSSTerry1
Lynne is not much for spooky things but the wooden Jack-O-Lantern seemed to fit the bill. She accented the face with Distress Stickles, Crackle Accents and the gorgeous Fabulous Flourish stamp by Hero Arts. Surprise....she created a flower cluster using the Tattered Floral and Tattered Leaves Dies by Tim Holtz.
SSSLynne1

Nancy W has stayed true to her passion of mini-books with this Maya Road haunted house. Tim Holtz Fragments for windows, an Alteration die for the fence, Tim Holtz stamps for skeletons and owls and many Crafty Secret images make up this spooky mini.
SSSNancyW1

Katie said that she had nothing spooky in her stash and therefore had to improvise. She made this gift set of seasonal vintage easy-mailer notelets using a real mixture of bits and pieces, including papers from DCWC Mariposa, 7 Gypsies Victoria and also some Basic Grey. She also used two sets of Hero Arts stamps to decorate the envelopes and sleeve: Sew Artsy and Everyday Sayings.
SSSKatie1

Lori chose to alter Raven's Nevermore House, using Tim Holtz's Raven and Scaredy Cat die, Trick or Treats and Retro Halloween stamps, and some Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel for a really spooky effect!
SSSLori1

My Spookay canvas is full of Tim Holtz stamps from the Mini Halloween Plate ... I have also used lots of fragments and Grungepaper ... the delicious purple glimmer is the new Ranger Perfect Pearls spray in forever violet ... already a firm favourite with me.
SSS32510

Linda decided to go with vintage spooky by using some vintage graphic images to create a luminaira. The graphics for the windows were printed on vellum. For the frame, spooky stock vintage images were printed on plain white card stock and Tim Holtz's Rusted Enamel technique was used to distress the surface. The top edge was cut with the Tim Holtz Scrollwork On The Edge die. The project was embellished with Tim Holtz Grungeboard Mixed Minis painted with Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber in Pitch Black and coated with Ranger Crackle Accents. Linda also used Prima Say it With Crystals for a bit of bling.
SSSLindaC1

Kim decided to make a coffin shaped treat box from gorgeous Graphic 45 HALLOWEEN IN WONDERLAND papers. Her spooky tag was created by inking some glossy card with distress inks, heat embossing the forgotten garden image from Tim Holtz URBAN TAPESTRY stamps. Then sanding the background to distress. Using the spider from Wendy Vecchi BOTANICAL ART as the starting point for the web, which she hand drew with WHITE INKSSENTIAL PEN. Kim then blended rusty hinge distress ink all over the tag to give a spooky glow and finished with an adhesive gem.
SSSKim1
Dan has recently been scaring himself silly watching the dvd set of "American Gothic", which is where he got his "there's someone at the door" inspiration from! This project features Tim Holtz stamps, distress ink pads, paint dabbers and Tim's sanding block!

Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything But a Card!

Helloooo ... What a brilliant job you all made of our metal challenge ... The winners will be announced on Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back then if you took part! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Anything But a Card! If you want to join in ... all you need to do is ... Interpret the theme any way you choose then come back here and link up so we can all see what you made! The challenge will close next Sunday at Midnight ... and to start those creative juices flowing... here is what the Design Team came up with  ...
The tissue tape Dan used to cover this shadow frame has apparently been burning a hole in his craft pocket, just waiting to be tried out! Suffice it to say that after one use he is now a big fan! He has also used Tim Holtz's Lost and Found Paper Pack, some of his stamps, salvage stickers and an idea-ology philosophy tag on this project.
SSSDan1
As you can see, Nancy used a good assortment of products for this book for her 7 year-old grandson: manila tags, Halloween Words; Cobwebs texture fades, Tim's On The Fence edge cut, Distress Inks (primarily Spiced Marmalade, Dusty Concord, Black Soot, Crushed Moss, Vintage Photo), Cosmo Cricket Haunted rub-ons/chipboard/papers, Jillibean papers, Tim stamps and Tissue Tape ... a little of this, a little of that ... sounds like a Halloween potion, doesn't it?
SSSNancyC2

Terry found a template of a little white box that a DVD was shipped in ... she thought it was perfect for her to make an Autumn box. She used a lot of Distress inks for an Autumn look. She also used a Martha Stewart Punch and the papers are from Basic Grey the Indian Summer.
SSSTerry1
Lynne's frame began with a Prima Mask and some Gesso! She had fun playing with Wendy Vecchi Art Parts Modelling Film! Distress Ink, Tim Holtz Facets, Maya Road flowers.....just to name a few of the goodies used on this frame. She says her favourite element is the Grungeboard letters, coloured with Sepia Archival Ink, dabbed with Tarnished Brass Crackle paint and wrapped with vintage crochet thread. Everything was adhered using Multi Medium.
SSSLynne1
Realizing the Holiday season is right around the corner,Nancy is thinking Christmas projects. This mini is easy to create with Maya Road chipboard book; trinket leaf pin, Tim Holtz Fragment, Graphic 45 papers and envelopes from 7 Gypsies decorated with Tim Holtz On The Edge Alteration dies. Add a few hanging Idea-ology charms, corners, a curio knob and key and finish it off with a Wendy Vecchi (Studio 490) stamp and it's ready for gift giving.
SSSNancyW1

Katie made this book for her Grand-Mother. She said it was about four months in the making and she gave it to her Grand-Mother yesterday .... I bet there were a few tears!
SSSKatie1
Lori is apparently on a roll with the chunky ATC's, so she has made another for this weeks challenge! She has used a lot of Wendy's stamps, grungepaper and distress inks to complete this ATC. Along with some Maya Road trinkets and assorted bling!
SSSLori1

I saw Tim's Branch Tree Die and I immediately knew what I was going to do with it. I have used all my favourite things including Wendy Vecchi Stamps ... Tim's On the Fence die ... Wendy's Art Parts ... Grungepaper ... Grungeboard ... Lost and Found Paperstack and Fragment Charms.
SSS21810

Ever since Linda saw Kim's star and booties, she has wanted to give Tim's Rusted Enamel technique a try. I think she has done a fabulous job with this challenge by making a little box out of chipboard using Weathered Wood Distress Ink and clear embossing powder. After embossing, she sponged over all the chipboard with Vintage Photo DI. Other Tim Holtz products used include Adage Tickets, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge DI to dye the flower, Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Power used on the hardware, Grunge Board Elements Plain, Flights of Fancy stamp set and a Memo Pin.
SSSLindaC1
Kim has been playing and learning exciting things to do with her Ranger Meltpot... She wanted to try the fun technique from the Ranger website showing altered grungeboard with Adirondack paint and perfect pearls! She applied this to the mini pocket notebook. She then created a matchbox to house the note book and decorated with ribbon, a tattered florals flower dipped in clear UTEE. The sentiment is a Wendy Vecchi and she added a grungeboard swirl coloured with distress ink.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Metal!

Hello there ... What a fabulous job you all made of last week's challenge ... Don't forget to watch out for Wednesday when the winners will be announced! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show some Metal! If you want to join in ... all you need to do is ... Interpret the theme any way you choose then come back here and link up so we can all see what you made! The challenge will close next Sunday at Midnight ... to get you on your way ... here is some more inspiration from the Design Team ...
Linda painted a frame from the Dollar Store with crackle paint and then spritzed it with a mixture of Vintage Photo Reinker and Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls. Her metal was embossed and then painted with Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber in Espresso and then sanded to reveal the metal. Her handmade flowers were cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die, among others and dyed with Peeled Paint and Pine Needles distress ink.
SSSLindaC1
After submitting an entirely metal piece for last week's challenge, Dan decided to take a different route this week - stitching on his project with copper wire and creating a custom embellishment. Needless to say, lots of other metal managed to find it's way onto the project too! Dan used lots of Tim Holtz stamps and Distress ink pads!
SSSDan1
Nancy says that Tim's Facets just beg to be made into pendants! In her submission Nancy used Type Charm, Link Chain, Jump Rings, Locket Key, Swivel Clasp ... Glossy Accents to adhere the images to the Facets ... and last but not least the Baubles Pearl!
SSSNancyC1
To create this lovely metal box Terry used Glimmermist, the Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds, Distress Stickles and the blue shades of Distress ink like Tumbled Glass and Broken China, she also used Accent Pearls
SSSTerry1
SSSTerry2
Lynne mixed things up... she used Alcohol Inks on the fabric and Dimensional Pearls on the metal and she said she loved the end result. She also created some inchies from Ten Seconds Studio Metal, which she placed in the background. She ran them through various Texture Fades and coloured with Alcohol Ink.  Finally the edges of the paper were run through the Distrezz-It-All for the finishing look!
SSSLynne1 SSSLynne2
Nancy said she loved this challenge as it got her working with Ten Seconds Studio metals again. She used a 7 Gypsies 4x4 mini-book to create the cover and pages. Added Tim Holtz Idea-ology and then decorated the inside with the new 7 Gypsies Conservatory Collection using the 8x8 for the pages and the 6x6 pad for the embellishments. Did you know that you can run some of the Ten Seconds Studio molds through your Big Shot?
SSSNancyW1 SSSNancyW2
Katie said "I wanted to alter this little notebook very simply, so covered the book in some K+Co paper, used Distress Inks to make a sky-effect on some plain cardstock and used a Hero Arts stamp for the background. I picked out some of the details with Copics and then clear embossed the entire panel a few times with UTEE. I then added a metal frame and some letters and ribbons to complete the design."
SSSKatie1 SSSKatie2
A few things inspired Kim's piece, she had some metal vintage clock work bits which reminded her of mechanics; Tim Burton's film Nine and the whole Steampunk genre. So she tried to create faux metal with scraps, yes all the grungepaper scraps from die cutting... pieces form Caged bird die has some fabulous negative shapes, as does the elegant flourishes and there's a piece from the centre of heart wings. Kim has used some of Wendy's Art Parts... she even adhered a scrap of diet coke can! The front frame is inked with Distress inks, she has attached a few mini fastener's and sanded all the edges to give an aged metal look. After adhering each piece with faux rivets and holes she brushed on a little gold and copper perfect pearls. Then attached a metal corner and D ring to hang!
SSSKim1 SSSKim2
Lori found a cool shadowbox frame at her local big box craft store in the clearance aisle, all because it had a few dings and the glass was broken. She removed the broken glass, and replaced it with a piece of chipboard covered with Ten Seconds Studio metal embossed with their molds, molding paste, some embellishments made of more metal and UTEE ... a lovely home decor piece!
SSSLori1 SSSLori2
Like Nancy C I decided to make some jewellery using some of Tim Holtz's Idea-ology pieces. I grabbed my Compendium of Curiosities and set to work recreating one of my favourite pieces from the book. Once I finished my necklace off with one of the new Timmy Baubles I went on to make some bottle top embellishments with the small pictures from the Lost and Found Stack. The Idea-ology ball chains are just perfect for these heavy duty pendants ... so I made another one ... inspired by Tim's earlier book ... to add to my collection!
SSS1110 SSSa1110

Simon Says Stamp and Show Your Numbers!

Hi Everyone ... Here's hoping you all have a good week and what better way to start a new week ... than a with another new challenge. This week Simon Says Stamp and Show your Numbers! If you want to join us again this week ... or if it's your first time ... all you need to do is ... Interpret the theme any way you choose then come back here and link up so we can all see what you made! The challenge will close next Sunday at Midnight ... to help you on your way ... here is some fabulous inspiration from the Design Team ...
Chunky ATC's are all "the rage" right now so Lori has  put together one Wendy Vecchi style, using mostly her STAMPS with NUMBERS. Lots of flowers made from grungepaper, she also used distress inks, Archival inks in Black and Coffee, Maya Road trinket pins , and Maya Road Foundation chipboard to help finish it off!
SSSLori1 SSSLori2
This week I have been playing with The Wendy Vecchi's new Art Parts ... All the stamps are from The Wendy Vecchi ... I have coloured the circle frame with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink ... I added lots of Grungepaper and finished off embellishing with some of Tim's new Idea-ology accoutrements.
SSS10410 SSS30410
Linda created her tag on a base of patchwork embossed  numbers.  She embossed card stock with several Tim Holtz Texture Fades and cut out the numbers, then patchworked and stitched them together.  After being ink distressed with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, it served as the base of her tag.  The handmade flowers and shabby seam binding were dyed with Tim Holtz distress inks.  The flourish was covered with Ranger Gold Liquid Pearls.
SSSLindaC1 SSSLindaC2
I Love the way Dan interprets these themes and this week's project is no exception. Dan has created this wonderful gift box using ... wait for it ... Ten Seconds Studio metal and one of their moulds. He has embellished the box with a square of patterned paper placed in a silver Ranger Memory Frame, which has been rubbed with copper wax.
SSSDan1 SSSDan2
Nancy used Cosmo Cricket's Garden Variety papers. The numbers are Grungeboard covered with vintage paper, then inked with Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, Wild Honey, Barn Door & Black Soot. The "bottle" is made from the Texture Fades' packing, stamped with Jet Black StazOn. Let's see ... little details ... lots of *Tim* with the Memo Pins, Locket Keys and Muse Tokens ... and a Maya Road star pin and flower.
SSSNancyC1 SSSNancyC2
Terry has used the wonderful papers from Graphic 45 Le Romantique and Vintage Love for her book. The roses are misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist, Old Lace Glitter spray. She has also used a Martha Stewart punch.
SSSTerry1 SSSTerry2
Lynne began by misting the front of her box with Broken China and Black Soot Re-inker Mixtures. She then added some fiber paste and misted it again...dusting it with Perfect Pearls. She used the new Tattered Leaves die to accent her flowers which were made using the Tattered Floral dieThe flowers and leaves were coloured with Re-inker Mixtures. For the numbers she created a large 2 out of Plain GrungeBoard, texturized it with Collage Texture Fade. She coloured the Foundations Box Feet with Gold Metallic Alcohol Ink.
SSSLynne1 SSSLynne2
Nancy Said "It's been a while since I've completed a 12x12 layout so that in itself was a challenge for me! This photo of my son practicing track when he was in high school reminded me of all the numbers: what lane was he in?; what was his time? etc." She used Crate Paper School Spirit paper with Bo Bunny and Tim Holtz Grungeboard Alpha thrown in for good measure.
SSSNancyW1
For this challenge katie decided to make a wall hanging with a recent photo of her and her brothers. She said "We don't get to see each often, living in different countries and all, so I thought it was a photo worth doing something special with."  Katie used a combination of 7 Gypsies Victoria paper, a Prima floral spray, Hero Arts lace and gems, Distress Inks, Glossy Accents and a Tim Holtz stamp to complete her design.
SSSKatie1 SSSKatie2
Kim said that after pondering what she could do to incorporate numbers she started to see them in numerous stamps and items! Lots of Wendy's Vecchi Stamps include numbers... like her Dimensional Rose art which is the background under the leaves. Nature's art sentiment says the number one which has been stamped onto a ticket which also has numbers! Even the wonderful butterfly from Botanical art has numbers in its pattern. To include even more numbers she covered grungepaper with Tim Holtz tissue tape and stamped flowers from live and make art in coffee archival before cutting and inking with distress ink. Finishing off with a bingo game piece.
SSSKim1 SSSKim2
So now it's over to you ... The Design Team are looking forward to seeing the way you choose to interpret the theme! This week's wonderful prize donated by our wonderful site sponsor Simon Says Stamp is a $25 gift voucher!
