Terry admits to having to think really hard this week to make something shabby. For her Money holder....She has used the Tattered Forals Die from Tim Holtz and played with Distress inks on the whole project. The colours she used were Vintage Photo, Fired Brick,Shabby Shutters, Broken China, Dried Marigold and Milled Lavender. She cut the bottom heart herself and she also used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Old Lace. The papers are Kioshi from Basic Grey.
Lynne loves all things SHABBY. She painted, spritzed and stamped with Pine Cone, Frost and Olive Vine Glimmer Mist making Tim Holtz Sketch Tree the focus. For the flower she used the ever versatile Tattered Floral die and various mediums, dictionary paper, cardboard, linen colouring them by creating puddles on her Craft Mat and dipping the pieces into the colour.
This week's challenge has Nancy using something she collected years ago. Nancy took this old wire basket and turned it into a wall hanging using Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 stamps, 7 Gypsies Victoria papers and Tim Holtz Idea-ology corners and word key. To keep the vintage look, Nancy used muted colours and painted the Idea-ology corners and key with a Pearl Dabber to soften the colour of the metal.
Lori chose to show shabby in the form of this assemblage piece. She used paper from Tim's Lost and Found paper stack, Jenni Bowlin stick pins, a paint dabber resist technique on a piece of chipboard cut with Tim's Baroque die and various found objects to finish!
I started with a 8X8" wood box frame and Tim's Shabby Chic paper stack and the rest kind of followed from there. To knock back the colour of the blue paper I used a mix of Claudine Hellmuth's Traditional Tan and Sable Brown ... created a wash and applied it over the top of pretty much everything. To add further depth to the piece I stamped in Coffee Archival with Tim's Shabby French collection ... which seemed entirely appropriate given the challenge theme :0)
Linda enjoys making home decor projects and has created a Thanksgiving wall hanging. She decorated her felt pumpkin with shabby canvas flowers cut with the Tattered Florals die and dyed with Rusty Hinge and Peeled Paint distress inks. The maple leaves were cut from Ten Seconds Studio metal, embossed with the Tim Holtz Cracked texture fade and smudged with Adirondack alcohol ink. Charms made with Tim Holtz Fragments and vintage Thanksgiving images provide a finishing touch.
Kim used Tim Holtz Vintage Shabby papers as the base for her shabby card. She stamped the stunning corner stamp from Prima Flowers Clear Stamps Build a Bauble and used STAMP and BOND adhesive powder before applying metal flakes. She then created a few flowers from Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die using some buckram to make a rose, Grungepaper and coloured with Distress inks. The Grungepaper hinge has been treated with a little distress embossing powder. Added a metal bird charm which was inked with a little paint, some idea-ology foliage, and embellished with some adhesive stones. Dan had to rethink his approach to this challenge after a nasty accident in the kitchen which left his main hand out of action for a while! Consequently this features less stamping than would be the norm for him, but he still managed to squeeze in a little stamping with the other hand! Products used included a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (great for using with Copics!), distress ink pads and Tim Holtz stamps.
Everything’s a little ‘shabby’ right now as the seasons change and Nancy wanted to update her birdcage to reflect that. Time has to be represented, of course, so she used one of Tim’s Timepieces, add leaves cut from leftover plastic packaging. She stamped, then coloured the leaves with an assortment of Ranger’s Alcohol Inks - then completed the autumn look with a Rosette cut with Tim’s Paper Rosette Alterations flower strip. The final touch? A "Wendy" pumpkin made with her Lower Case Art stamp set and Tiny Text stamp!
