Simon Says Stamp and Show Things with Wings!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Things with Wings! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Tracy has another obsession, the Artful Shrine Art Parts and this week she has decorated her piece using the lovely lacy background from Sentimental Art and coloured with Distress Ink Wild Honey. The background piece is from the Kraft-Core Nostalgic Collection which has been embossed with Tim's Pattern and Stitches Texture Fade, and the raised areas sanded. One side of the shrine has been embellished with the dress form from the Sewing Room die. Embellishments include Memo Pins, Ornate Plate, buttons and a collection of pieces from her own stash.
Using My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Two as a base, Nancy loved working with Maya Road wings. Adding them to a Kaiser Wood Mannequin was a fun way to start this card. Studio 490 Just Sew Artsy were the perfect stamps to add to the mannequin with a face from An Eye For Art.
Linda was inspired to take a leaf out of teammate Sarah's book and create a piece of art on a book cover. She started out with the wonderful dress form from the Wendy Vecchi A Form of Art set and created the wings with a piece of transparency, the Tim Holtz Regal Flourishes set, some Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder and Gold Arcylic Paint Dabber.  The skirt was made of two tags stamped with sentiments from the Stuff to Say stamp set.

"A person who has no imagination, has no wings!" Muhammad Ali ~ This quote became the inspiration for Lynne's paper mache dress form. She created the lower part of the dress by applying various Distress Stains to Tissue Paper. For the upper part, she ruffled the Tissue Paper and stapled with her handy dandy Tiny Attacher. Do you see the wonderful leaves she created using Autumn Gatherings. To show case her piece she set it on a stand created from the Arts Parts Sample Pack.
Candy loves butterflies.  So for her Things With Wings, she created a shabby chic butterfly suitcase; completely covered inside and out with the beautiful Bo Bunny Gabrielle papers and embellished with the coordinating Trinkets and Wraps Ribbon.  She distressed the papers and kraft paper accents with Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain Distress Inks and Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls Powder.  This suitcase is full of interactive pull outs, pockets, mini books and butterfly surprises!
Of course, when you think of things with wings, the first thing that springs to mind is a bunch of hearts with eyes trapped in a bird cage - at least, if you're Dan it is!  Products he used included the From the Heart, Oddities and Royal Script stamp sets, Black Soot distress stain, Walnut Stain distress ink pad and Hero Arts White emobssing powder.
When Terry heard about the wings, she was thinking about the birds....bluebirds turning vintage....so she made an Autumn Memory Box with bluebirds on top. She worked with the fabulous stamp set from Artistic Outpost and the stamps from Hero Arts Silhouette Grass, she played with it on the outside and even stamped the inside of the box and embossed it with copper embossing powder. Everything was distressed with Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Forest Moss. Of course, she could not leave the Crackle Accents alone.
As soon as Ellen learned about the "things with wings" theme she immediately thought of butterflies.  She started with a 5x5 unfinished wood shadow box, painted with traditional tan, espresso and pitch black paint, and then gave it a thin coat of rock candy crackle paint.  The center of the box is a cut off from a jumbo manila tag, colored with distress stains, stamped with Tim Holtz and Dylusions stamps, spritzed with heirloom gold perfect pearl mist, and finally, added a Blue Moon charm.  The butterflies on each side were die cut with the mini butterfly die out of Clearly For Art modeling film by Studio 490, colored with alcohol ink, with idea-ology pins and game spinners for their bodies.  Added an altered ornate plate with Tim Holtz sentiment, and some idea-ology buttons and grunge block letters.
Sarah thinks birds are very symbolic of freedom and dreams so she created a vintage  Inspirational Bird Journal full of quotes, poetry and images. She used Artful Flight, Mini Ornates, Grungeboard and lots of Distress Inks.
I am a butterfly girl too ... so this week's challenge was the perfect opportunity for me to make a card! I used lots of Grungepaper ... lots of Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 stamps and my butterfly is Tim Holtz's Mini Butterfly Mover and Shaper die cut from Sticky backed canvas and coloured with Wild Honey Distress Stain.

Simon Says Stamp and Show THE Wendy Vecchi Style!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Wendy Vecchi Style! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Tracy is beginning to think about Christmas now that we are into October and this weeks piece reflects that with the use of Wendy Vecchi's Art Of Making It Merry set of stamps to decorate the Art Parts Artful Shrine. The shrine was coloured with Distress Ink Fired Brick and the background decorated using a piece of the Kraft Resist Christmas Paper Stash. The leaves are from Wendy Vecchi's Funky Flower Art set, coloured with Distress Ink Peeled Paint. Embellishments include a Christmas Muse Token and JOY added to Memo Pins adhering with Glossy Accents.
With the incredible Wendy Vecchi and Studio 490 as our muse this week, Nancy felt the pull to use several of Wendy's incredible designs. This card began with papers from Pink Paislee's Daily Junque. Nancy then moved onto a Spellbinders die using the same papers. This die fit perfectly underneath Wendy's ATC Art Parts. With the addition of Studio 490 Celestial Art, Nature's Artand Clearly for Art, Nancy's card is complete.
Candy Colwell
It's Wendy Vecchi Week!  Candy created a decorative little shelf using a lot of different Art Parts and Wendy stamps.  The base was constructed using Wendy's Art Parts Artful Shrines and the large scallop from her Scallop Trim Art Parts.  She added some Art Parts from Florals, a Pocket Watches, Simply Wings, Dress Forms And More, Bottles and More, and Queens And Crowns Art Parts to create this whimsical uplifting piece reminding us to not only BELIEVE IN YOUSELF  but to LIVE EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE!

Linda Coughlin
Linda used chipboard coasters to create a three-piece wall hanging with a theme of being true to yourself for her Wendy project.  She used a mix of stamps from Wendy's sets including Live and Make Art, Love to Make Art, A Form of Art and Nature's Art.  She did a lot of sponging with Frayed Burlap, Dried Marigold and Stormy Sky distress inks.
Wendy, being a true Duchess of Ink, deserved a noble tribute so Sarah created The Vecchi Coat of Arms. She wanted it to be a feast of Wendy's designs and went to town with Art Parts, stamps and Distress inks. Sarah created a floating frame using the Flourish Frames set stamped with Alphabetically Art and then brought her Fanciful Diva to life with a Pocket Watch and Butterfly body, crowning her with a Simply Wings and Scallop headdress. Two Art Part Leaves flank the challenging words 'Be Unique".
Terry just loves everything Wendy, she is such an Artist (Wendy that is LOL)....So Terry decided this time to make a special card with the most fabulous Wendylicious products..such as the stampset Look and You will See & Dreams of Art, the most fabulous Butterflies such as Just Fly and Flutterby Butterfly and the Art Parts set Simply Wings.  Every piece is inked with Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge, Peeled Paint, Weathered Wood, Spiced Marmelade and Ripe Persimmon. Allmost everything is worked on with Crackle Accents and Glossy Accents to give it that special look.
OK.....so Lynne started out her ART SHRINE with every intention of making a WENDY style creation....but it so ended up being a LYNNE style! She began by painting the Art Parts with black paint. She then applied Multi Medium and adhered some Tissue Paper. This is where Lynne went off track, she pulled out the Cubist Template and applied some molding paste. She used multiple dies, Tattered Floral, Spiral Blossoms 1 & 2, Mini Tattered Leaves!! and the coloring GOODNESS began! She finally head back down the right path with the Leaves and beloved Butterfly!
Being a HUGE fan of all things Wendy Vecchi... Ellen couldn't wait to break out her Studio 490 stamps and Art Parts! She started with a 5 x 5 canvas frame, applied distress stains to the background and sides, and then started with the stamping.  Did some script and alpha background stamping, and then used some flower art parts (from THIS set and THIS set), painted with Ranger paint dabbers and then stamped with the polka dot background and checker/flower background, added a scalloped border (from THIS set), stamped the sentiment on white card stock, cut the words apart and arranged on the canvas, inking with antique linen distress ink.  Added an antique skeleton key, and some idea-ology accents.
Dan actually took his courage in both hands for this piece and with great trepidation he managed to get to grips with a sewing machine, something he thought he'd never do!  Products he used included Distress Stains in Aged Mahogany, Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick and Picket Fence, Wendy's "It's Face Art" stamp set and a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad.
I can take no credit for inspiration this week as all inspiration for this piece comes from THE Wendy Vecchi's beautiful Studio 490 Art Parts packaging and her blog. I have used a selection of Art Parts; Wendy's stamps; Distress Stains and Distress Inks.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Men Only!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Men Only! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Lynne knew exactly what she was going to do for this weeks challenge....a MAN CARD. As she is such a "FLOWER GIRL" manly things can be quite challenging!!! The entire card was created around the moustache from Men and More. She dabbed on some fiber paste and when dry added Vintage Photo Distress Stain. The hand was lathered with Picket Fence Distress Stain and Stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink. For another manly touch, she added a Timepiece. She then roughed up the card with the Distrezz it All and some ink!
Sarah really wanted to use her Artistic Outpost stamps and thought it was high time she created a card  to inspire all the other card-makers out there. She used Rusty Hinge, Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky Distress Inks to colour the background before stamping the wonderful image in Versafine Ink adding a little stamped bunting too! She indulged in lots of vintage torn layers using October Afternoon papers and Hero Arts Lace Ribbon all mounted on Bazill Cardstock.
Tracy enjoyed making a chunky ATC so much last week that the MEN ONLY challenge allowed her to indulge once again in these addictive forms of art. This weeks piece has been adorned with stamped images from Wendy Vecchi's Steampunk Art and Tim's Steampunk set. The ATC has been coloured with Distress Stain Vintage Photo and all the background pieces coloured with Distress Ink Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany. Embellishments include Idea-Ology Sprockets, Fragments, Memory Frame, Corners and a 7 Gypsies Knob. Pop by Tracy's blog for more details.
Nancy's husband is all about the outdoors and so she naturally gravitated to an outdoor sport for her *man* project this week. Beginning with a simple piece of particle board, she first painted it with a layer of Claudine Hellmuth Gesso. Then layered pieces of leftover scrapbook paper on top of that using Claudine's Matte Medium. In between the pieces, she scribbled in some watercolor crayons to smudge the edges and finished off with Studio 490 shelves and Art For Men rubber stamps.
When Candy thought of Men Only, she thought of Graphic 45's Proper Gentleman Paper Collection.  So naturally, she used those beautiful papers along with Tim Holtz' Gadget Gears, Rosette, and Pennants to create this wonderful vintage picture frame.  Crackle Accented clock faces and Platinum Stickled accents help to create the vintage feel.  There is even a Kraft Paper pouch and strap attached to hold extra photos and memorabilia!
For her Men Only project, Linda used an old favorite stamp set called Keeper from Artistic Outpost and combined it with a newer Tim Holt set Curiosities.  Lots of distress inks including Scattered Straw, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo were also used as well as Glossy Accents.
Ellen found an old picture of her Dad and two uncles when they were very young (Dad on right) and used it as inspiration for a hand-made mini book, celebrating "brothers".  The covers are cut from a cardboard box, painted with distress crackle paint and edged with tissue tape.  The chipboard frames are from Maya Road.   Idea-ology sprocket gears and game spinner, and alpha part letters.  Inside, the pages are made from Kraft Resist paper and various colors of distress stains.   The book was bound together using The Cinch with 1" binding rings.
This topic got Dan thinking about classic male figures through art history, and he was immediately drawn to Michelangelo's undiscovered masterpiece, the Jonah Lisa!  Having been inspired by this enigmatic icon of male beauty, Dan created this tribute to the mysterious classic!  Products he used included Promarkers, Clockworks embossing folder, Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and the Mona's Sketchbook stamp set.
Terry made a card for the Men Only project, using the fabulous Fall Seasonal Distress Inks. The Art Parts For the Guys from The Wendy were just perfect. The first layer on the card was made with Tim Holtz tissue tape, just like the flower and worked on with distress inks. The clock and sentiment comes from the stampset The Journey. Furthermore she used the Crackle Distress and Glossy Accents.
There are a few special men in my life ... and three of them are on Tim's Steampunk stamp sheet :0) For the background colour on my tag I used Shabby Shutters Distress Stain; Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a mist of Perfect Pearls in Heirloom Gold. The background stamping is made using the fabulous Shabby French set and of course no tag is complete without a bit of Idea-ology!
