Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Metal!

Hello people! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Metal! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
While there's not a lot of 'real' metal on Nancy's wedding card, there is also some faux metal. The brad & jewelry spacer in the middle of the crinoline/tulle/lace flower Nancy made are the only real metal items on the card, but the Ranger Glitz Tiara Stickles around the edge of the card front & touched onto the flower petals lends a shiny, metallic touch to the flower. Nancy used My Favorite Things' Die-Namics Decorative Doily die with grey metal cardstock to create a background for the flower - what a crisp, clean doily it cut!
You want metal...you've got metal with Candy's piece this week! She chose to make a canvas colored with Stream and Butterscotch Color Wash Sprays. It features "Row Houses" made from the new Tim Holtz Artful Dwellings Die Cut. She covered them in Foil Tape Sheets and Gold and Copper Foil Sheets that were embossed using various patterns from Tim Holtz Texture Fade Embossing Folders. Check out all of the metal Ideaology in THIS neighborhood!
Dan has always been a fan of the faux batik technique, and after not having used it for quite a while he recently rediscovered it and it forms the core of this card.  Products used include Top Boss Embossing Ink Pad, Clear Detail embossing powder, Distress Ink Pads in Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed, as well as Tim Holtz's stamp set "Floral Tattoo" and an Ornate Plate.
Nancy made this card in celebration of all June weddings. Using Graphic 45's Le Romantique images along with Spellbinders Precious Metals foil, Nancy die cut a border with Spellbinders Parisian and added a circular sentiment with Marvy 3" Scallop Circle punch and Marvy 2" Scallop Circle Punch. To finish off the design, tiny pearls were added here and there.
Lynne came across a metal lantern and knew this would be a great place to start. She pulled out a sheet of Chocolate Metal and a punch to create the borders. After adding some mesh to two of the sides, she accented it with a piece of Felt Ribbon. She then added flower clusters created with Tea Roses, Roosevelt Missus, and colored Craftable Flowers. She created some leaves with the Tattered Leaves die, Crinoline and Shabby Shutters Distress Reinker Mixture.
Ten Seconds Studio metal took the stage for Lori's project this week.  She used Golden Nugget metal, cut with the Tattered Florals die and embossed with Ten Seconds Studio tools to create the flowers.  The centers are Maya Road Bingo numbers. Black metal ran through the Bingo Texture Fade makes for an interesting background.
Kim's first thought was of Steampunk when the theme was set for this weeks challenge. She created a frame with small easel to stand and cut the opening using baroque die then with Mocha metal sheet embossed it with texture fades and used Ten Seconds Studio tools to create the decorative edge. The front had a generous dab of paint dabber burnished in. The frame has been adorned with cut gadget gears enhanced with perfect pearls, a steampunk'd butterfly plus all the various pieces from Tim's Idea-ology range.
'Loved'. Sarah really wanted to create a family keepsake and altered three metal candy tins into Antique photo frames to hold vintage photos of her mum, grandmother and great-grandmother. She set them within an embossed metal frame and mounted them onto a wall hanging embellished with rusty roses, metal findings and charm clips. Sarah used lots of Alcohol inks and Ten Seconds Studio metal. More photos and details on Sarah's blog.
Linda used two Spellbinders dies to cut a sheet of Ten Seconds Studio metal for her shabby romantic wall hanging.  Before removing the cut metal from the die, she lightly sanded the stencil areas with a burnishing block to reveal the silver colored core.  The Spellbinders scalloped heart die was used to cut another piece of metal which was then embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder and then dabbed it with Current alcohol ink. The metal key was cut with the Tim Holtz Hardware Findings die and the seam binding was dyed with Tattered Rose distress ink.
Terry made a jewellery cabinet for her daughter, with the message that the"Key is to Believe" (in yourself). The Metal sentiment is from The Tim Holtz Idea-ology Philosophy Tags. The background of the whole cabinet was masked with Vintage Photo onto the Art Part Leaves from The Wendy Vecchi, and was topped with the "real" Art Parts Leaves. It was finished with Crackle Accents. There are lots of butterflies from The Wendy Vecchi and the Floral Butterfly too, coloured with Stormy Sky
I thought I would mix up my metals a bit ... so I grabbed some Ten Seconds Studio metal and moulds ... an Ornate Plate and a canvas together with some Grunge Paper and yummy Wendy Vecchi stamps and got started. My advice is ... Don't panic about the metal theme ... even the smallest of metal embellishments or charms will qualify your work for the challenge!
Please stop by The Design Team's individual blogs for more detailed pictures and further information on their work...Just click on their names!
