Simon Says Stamp and Show some Up-Cycling/Re-Cycling!

Hello Everybody! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... some Up-Cycling/Re-Cycling! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Tracy decided to recycle a book cover this week decorated with tissue paper recycled from a shoe box and coloured with Adirondack Color Wash Espresso and Sunset Orange. Tracy decorated the book cover with images from Tim's Papillon set along with embellishments including Memo Pins, Jump Rings, Corners and Philosophy Tag along with the Filmstrip Frames Decorative Strip Die.
Candy is really in the Christmas spirit with this vintage/retro decoration made from recycling a plain wooden frame, a Christmas napkin and some Tim Holtz Ideaology Muse Token packaging. Candy made the frame using her Melting Pot, Beeswax and a Christmas napkin. Then she added Forever Red, Kiwi, Forever Green Perfect Pearls and some Patina and Platinum Stickles for that added holiday glitz and shimmer. The retro Santas are mounted underneath the packaging from Tim Holtz' Muse Tokens.
Nancy has several of these open top boxes and this was the perfect challenge to figure out what to do with them. She turned it into an *in box* for daily mail by first spraying the box with Adirondack Color Wash. After it dried, the outside and inside were covered using 7 Gypsies 8x8 Lille paper pack. M-A-I-L letters were adhered to the front as well as other 7 Gypsies ephemera. Add 7 Gypsies stationary and give as a gift during the holidays!
Lynne acquired these metal stars a while back.....they are intended to be Christmas Tree Ornaments, however she had something else in mind. Using the brand spankin' new Tattered Pinecone Die, Kraft Resist paper, and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, a plan was coming together. She used her Drill Punch on the stars so she could link them together with large jump rings. She pulled out scrap pieces of Bazzill to create the Fir Sprigs and accented them with Rock Candy Distress Stickles to look like snow.
A bit of Designer Trash! Sarah made a Festive Gift Bag from a vintage newspaper. She white-washed it using Picket Fence Distress Stain and lined the inside with Graphic 45 Paper. The star is made from a toilet roll which she also lined and then painted with Gesso and Rock Candy Crackle paint. The tags were also made from newspaper, stamped with Tim's Season's Silhouettes set and distressed with Stormy Sky.
Dan
Dan is making many of his gifts this Christmas, and has been saving all the small boxes he can find to recycle as gift packaging.  This is the box that his mobile phone came in, and it's the perfect size for 3 jars of his corn and pepper relish and caramelised onion chutney!  Products he used included Martha Stewart's Baker's Twine, Tim Holtz's Seasonal Paper Stack, the Holiday Wishes stamp set and his trusty Scotch ATG gun.
Terry
Terry is always recycling "old" stuff so this challenge was right up her alley. She made a Christmas wrapping out of an old box for underwear. LOL, mens underwear LOL! She used the fabby paperpad from Graphic 45, played with Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany and worked with The Tim's Odds and Ends. The front was worked on with Distress Crackle Paint. The lace is from her own stash and was made into a bow.

Ellen recycled the cover of an old book by cutting it in half and hinging the two pieces together.  She covered each side with Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas, used Ranger's craft scraper to apply a thick uneven coat of gesso, stained with brushed corduroy distress stain, and used a combination of Studio 490 Art Parts, Dylusions stamps, and Tim Holtz pen nibs and adornments to embellish.
Linda gave new life to a tired old picture frame by wrapping it in torn, frayed strips of homespun type frabric and embellishing it with leaves cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Leaves die.  Some of the leaves were cut from acrylic packaging and colored with alcohol inks.  The frame holds a background stamped with the Tim Holtz Book Covers stamp and embellished with the heart from Wendy Vecchi's Love to Make Art.
I decided to Up-Cycle a Baked Bean Can ... I covered it with Grungepaper then added a Tim Holtz Styled Label Die and lots of Wendy Vecchi's Make Mine Mini Art stamped Grungepaper flowers which were coloured using Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans Distress Inks.
