Simon Says Stamp and Show your Favourite Stamp!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ...  the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Your Favourite Stamp! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! First take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Choosing a favorite stamp was one of the toughest challenges yet. As an avid stamp collector, Nancy doesn't have just one favorite. This card features a couple of her *go to* stamps, Crafty Secrets Artsy Banner with Artistic Outpost Bluebird to create a boyish card for a 21st birthday. With the addition of Tattered Banners and Spellbinders Scalloped Squares this simple card is complete.
Candy's favorite stamp(s) today (they change daily) are from Wendy Vecchi's Tools For Art set. They inspired this colorful and whimsical artist's palette. She combined the paint brush and ink bottles stamps with a few other sentiment stamps and various flower and leaves stamps from Wendy. Then she added Wendy Vecchi's Borders and Bottles Art Parts, Color Washes, Distress Stains, Adirondak Embossing Powders and Tim Holtz' Kraft Resist Paper to complete this "artsy" piece.
Sarah just adores the Retro glamour of this sassy dame from Tim's Pattern Pieces Stamp. Sarah also loves the fresh design of the 1950's and decided on a red dress code and created a little City Chic - handbag style! She used the Chip Block Die, Claudine Hellmuth paints, a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and a few hours scissor work...See lots more photos and details on Sarah's blog.
Nancy sat down to create something using Tim Holtz' dress form stamp from his Haberdashery set, but, then she wanted background and embellishment ... then, next thing she knew, she had a set of tags using many of her favorite stamps! Nancy stayed with one set of Ranger Distress Inks - Antique Linen, Rusty Hinge, Walnut Stain, Chipped Sapphire, Forest Moss, Fired Brick. You can see the tags individually on Nancy's blog here.
Lori decided to continue with the Wendy Vecchi style this week, as many of her stamps are Lori's favorites! For this card she chose her current favorite background stamp from Art Colors Life, stamped with Denim pigment ink. The flowers are from the same stamp set, as is the "Simplify". The flowers are colored with Watermelon Adirondack pigment ink and overstamped with the text stamp from Love to Make Art. Check her blog for more details!
Terry decided to make a baby card. Her favourite stamps are the FABULOUS butterfly Just Fly from  Wendy Vecchi. And the other favourite is the smaller Just Flutterby Butterfly from Wendy Vecchi. She worked on them with Distress inks such as Wild Honey, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo and Weathered Wood. On top she used Crackle Accents, to give it that special look. The borders are worked on with the EK Succes Fleur de Lis Slim Edger Punch More detailled pictures are on her Blog.
Choosing her favorite stamp was not an easy choice so Lynne chose a stamp set....Hero Arts Real Garden Petals. She used Wild Honey and Peeled Paint Distress Inks to stamp her flowers which became the focal point of the diecut Style Label. She accented the flowers on the tag with Rock Candy Crackle Accents. She embossed the chipboard flourish using her Collage Texture Fade. Don't you just love the Corner Accent! Check out her blog and Grungepaper Rose Tutorial!
Choosing a favourite stamp was without a doubt the toughest challenge yet! Kim really had to think about this one and decided on Wendy's background stamps! Alphabetically art is Kim's go to stamp and are on the sides of the hand made box. But more recently art colors life background stamp really impresses and is on the lid, used with white embossing powder. Everything is sanded and scuffed; all the edges are generously inked with frayed burlap distress inks!
Linda's recently acquired Tim Holtz Papillion set and it has become a great favorite.  She used it to create a piece of decorative desk art for her "favorite stamp" project.  She used a freedom theme to make a non-traditional Memorial Day recognition.  In addition to the Tim Holtz stamp set, she also used the Tim Holtz Vintage Market alphabet die, Vintage Photo Distress Stain, Vintage Photo and Broken China distress inks, Spellbinders heart die, plus the Tim Holtz Kraft Resist Paper Stash and Tissue Tape.
Dan's favorite stamp from the Tim Holtz range is without doubt the "David" head from Tim's Artful Artifacts set.  It's strong graphic style means that even the craziest color combinations still work with it.  Other products used here include the Kraft Resist card stack, Fired Brick Distress Stain and the Bitty Grunge stamp set.  More details on Dan's blog!
Many of you already know that I pick the themes each week ... so from the very moment I chose this one ... I knew exactly which stamp ... erm ... I mean stamps I was going to use! First up is the very first Tim Holtz stamp I ever bought many moons ago ... Mona and of course Wendy Vecchi's mini butterfly from Make Mine Mini Art. I used Faded Jeans and Peeled Paint Distress Inks to colour.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Wendy Vecchi Style!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ...  the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Wendy Vecchi Style! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! If you have n't got anything Wendy Vecchi ... Don't panic ... use the stash you already have ... but first take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
As you all know I LOVE everything Wendy Vecchi / Studio 490 related! So I had a wonderful time filling my 7Gypsies Printers tray with lots of Wendy Vecchi stamps and goodies in addition to some Idea-Ology. This sample was quite tricky to photgraph so for more detailed pictures check out my blog.
Dan used a range of Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 stamps to create this card.  Products used included Faded Jeans, Antique Linen, Fired Brick and Wild Honey Distress Stains along with Wendy's Residential Art, It's More Flower Art and All Bottled Up stamps.
Nancy was very happy to accomplish something that's been on her to-do list for quite a while - decorating her 2nd set of large acrylic covers. She added Studio 490 Art Parts to create a shelf upon which she perched a Wendy-inspired bottle to represent the zero in the 490. A Maya Road sign hangs from Art Parts with Idea-ology swivel clasps and Maya Road letters.

Candy chose to cross Wendy Vecchi of Studio 490's style with a Santos Cage Paper Doll and see what happened. She used the smallest of the houses in Wendy's Residences Art Parts to create the doll's head. The polka dots on the body, the dimensional flowers and leaves and the sentiments seen on the doll were from Wendy's All About Art, Dimensional Rose Art, Ticket To Art, Nature's Art, and A Form Of Art Stamp Sets.
Lynne loves ALL THINGS WENDY VECCHI.....she was inspired by the quote from Nature's Art. So she pulled out a canvas and her Dress Forms and More ~ art parts. She stamped the background of the canvas with her all time favorite stamp from Flower Art. Spritzed on some Shabby Shutters, lathered on a bit of Fiber Paste, added some Wild Honey and Vintage Photo Distress Stains and Aged Mahogany Stickles, tucked in a colored Tattered Floral flower and there you have it....
a gift for her daughter's graduation!!
Lori Hassler
Lori loves the Studio 490 style, especially the flowers! And.. the motivational sentiments. So she chose both to make a home decor piece! She used stamps from Live and Make Art, She Created Art, Mail Art, and It's Face Art, along with some new Clearly for Art Blackout to demonstrate her passion for Studio 490!

Make a little bird-house for your soul...! For Sarah, it was definitely a case of Be Happy, Live and Make Art with Wendy's Vecchi's stamps of the same name. Sarah wanted to create a flourish of florals and enjoyed playing with Clearly For Art, various Art Parts, and lots of Distress Inks. She also used Claudine Helmuth's great Studio Paints, lots of Matt Medium and would never have survived without Tim Holtz's indispensable scissors! See more photos and details on Sarah's blog.
Since seeing Wendy's "treasure box" in her box #4, Nancy's wanted to create one of her own - and now has! The box is from one of Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Configurations, the lid's grungepaper colored with Ranger Peeled Paint Distress Ink Stain & stamped with Wendy Vecchi's ticking stamp from Art Fit for a Queen. For more details & more pictures, please visit Nancy's blog.

Linda is a novice where Wendy Vecchi's work is concerned so she chose to make a small simple wall hanging out of a coaster.  She knew polka dots were one of Wendy's favorite patterns so she made sure to incorporate plenty into her piece.  Products used include the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals DieGrunge Paper, Broken China and Tea Dye Distress Inks as well as Vintage Photo Distress Stain.  She also used several Tim Holtz stamp sets including Papillon, Mini Classics and Curiosities.

Kim had so much fun creating with lots of Wendy Vecchi stamps... Alphabetically art, art colors life, botanical artlive and make artnature's art. Claudine Hellmuth Gesso Primer Paint was used for all the art parts, leaves, sample pack. We all know flowers are one of Wendy's favorite things to create so Kim made sure to incorporate plenty into her piece. Die cut, stamped, punched and even some Clearly for Art whiteout.

Terry decided to make a tag with The Wendy Vecchi Style. The background is masked with a leaf and she used the Just Fly butterflies from Wendy and worked on them with Distress inks such as Weathered Wood, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint and Wild Honey. To finish it she used the Crackle Accents on the wings. The sentiment is from The Tim Holtz Odds and Ends and she placed a Philosophy Tag underneath. On the bottom of the tag she placed some metal brads. More details are on her blog.

Simon Says Stamp and Show an Old Wive's Tale!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... we had a record number of entries ... like everyone we had a few problems with Blogger ... we struggled to leave a comment on some blogs ... so in most cases we left a message on the post before ... but HUGE apologies to anyone we may have missed ... We did manage to visit you all and the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... An Old Wives Tale! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! This theme definitely gets the old grey cells working ... so if you are stuck for an idea ... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
A 5x7 canvas is the basis for this whimsical view of Candy's favorite old wives' tale. The colorful background was achieved by blending Claudine Hellmuth's Classic Teal and A Dab Of Yellow Studio Paints. A haunting man's image, from a black and white picture, was transferred onto the canvas using Matte Multi Medium. Add a vintage eye chart from Tim Holtz' Oddities Stamp Set, a vintage picture of a cross eyed boy, a dusting of some Perfect Pearls, and two optical lenses and you've got "Don't Cross Your Eyes...They Will Stick Like That!"
*Find a penny, pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck* came to Nancy on a walk with her dog when she spotted a penny. After returning home from the walk, she gathered things that were symbols of luck i.e., 7 Gypsies Bingo paper, Tim Holtz Bingo stamp and miscellaneous ephemera on top of Graphic 45 background paper. The lucky penny finished off the card front.

Lori had to think pretty hard on this theme, but, she came up with....breaking a mirror gives you seven years bad luck. She used paper from Lost and Found, tissue tape, salvage stickers, and a grungeboard number 7 to finish this tale!
Nancy never thought of "Star light, star bright" as an old wives' tale, but, it showed up in the lists she found online - so, she made an oversized birthday tag for a friend. Wendy Vecchi's Celestial Art stamp provided the stars hanging over Tim Holtz's Rickety House & Iron Gate Sizzix dies.

"A bird in the Hand......." is what came to mind Lynne's mind when she saw this challenge. She created her "mini sketchbook" beginning with 7gypsies ~ Book Cover.  She bound her book together with her handy dandy Bind it All! She smeared Tarnished Brass Distress Crackle paint around the edges. Then she covered a piece of cardboard with Tissue Tape and die cut it using the Caged Bird Die. And the AMAZING tree is a stamp from Winter Sketchbook. Head on over to her blog for more details.
While growing up, Linda's family always followed the "rule" that they had to wait one hour after eating before they could go in swimming and she got a chuckle out of finding it on a list of old wives' tales.  Her tag is made using the Cracked Embossing folder, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks, a Memo Pin, the Tattered Florals die, a piece of Foliage hardware and a stamp from the Odds and Ends set.
Sarah remembers asking her mum on which day she was born and that's how she learnt 'Monday's Child'. Seven hanging tags tell the story....turns out Sarah is a Friday lass. She used many versatile products including Distress Inks, a Snow Cap Dabber, Tim Holtz Stamps, Glassine Paper and Multi-Medium. More details and photos on Sarah's blog.
"When your eyes are toooo close, you'll be wearing glasses in due time" is the old wives' tale that Terry has used. The "Eye" stamp is from The Tim Holtz, Oddities. The eyes are worked on with Crackle Accents. The background is also from the Oddities stamp set, it was coloured with Distress inks, Vintage Photo, Aged Mahogany, Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain as well as embossed with the copper embossing powder. The flowers were made from The Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die and the papers are from Basic Grey, Curio. More detailed pictures are on her blog
For his old wives' tale, Dan chose "Beware the one whose eyebrows meet, for in their heart you'll find deceit".  Whatever the correct word is for a triptych with 4 parts, this is one of those!  Products used include Claudine Hellmuth Gesso, Matt Multi Medium, Forest Moss Distress Stain and White, Espresso and Red Pepper paint dabbers.  It's hard to see clearly the detail here, so hop over to Dan's blog for larger images and details of the techniques he used.
Kim had trouble choosing just one Old Wives' Tale but decided to use salt as her theme... The Background has been treated with salt sprinkled onto distress stains to create a texture similar to watercolour effect. The bird image stamped in coffee archival, the bird's has a little salt glued to give a subtle shimmer. For the bird cage Kim tried some salt embossing and applied distress inks to enhance. The tattered flower was cut from distress Coredinations cardstock, with a sculpture flower centre.
I decided on "a stitch in time saves nine". To make my sample I used Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts; Tim Holtz's Weathered Clock die, a Butterfly Mover and Shaper, an Idea-Ology numeral covered with dictionary paper and Curtain Call stamps from Graphic 45.
Please stop by The Design Team's individual blogs for more detailed pictures and further information on their work...Just click on their names! Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything Goes!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Anything Goes! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Dan has been hoarding this fibreboard money box for a few weeks, waiting for inspiration to strike. He covered it with papers from the Crowded Attic and Kraft Resist pads and then distressed it with Antique Linen and Forest Moss Distress Stains, with a little white paint dabber for good measure. He filled a selection of bookplates and Memory Frames with pieces from the Retro Grunge and Lost and Found pads, among others, and finished it off with an Idea-ology Word Key and a Plaquette!

Nancy hadn't done a 12"x12" layout lately and with the theme *anything goes* and new photos of her nieces, it was time to give it a go. This layout uses a background from Graphic 45 Renaissance Faire with additions of 7 Gypsies Lille and Crate Paper Restoration.

Having just returned from Ranger U, Candy decided to create a background sampler using twelve techniques she learned. A 7 Gypsies Printer Tray is the perfect decorative piece to display the backgrounds and embellishments! Candy incorporated Distress Inks, Paint Dabbers, Alcohol Inks and Color Washes to create totally different looks. Then she embellished each compartment with faux porcelain flowers made from UTEE, various Tim Holtz Ideaology pieces, stamps and die cuts for a very colorful and detailed piece.
Sarah decided to be both Girly and Grungy by creating a ring binder book of flowers and metal. She decorated the cover with crinoline Rosette flowers and grunged up some old Thicker letters with her Snow-Cap Dabber and Distress embossing powder. Sarah also used lashings of Distress Inks, a Wendy Vecchi leaf stamp and various design papers to fill the inside...see lots more photos and details on Sarah's blog.
Lori needed to make an 8th grade graduation card for a nephew, so she turned to alcohol inks to make a bold and bright statement. She also used the DREAM mover and shaper die, the Rock Star stamp set, and the I-Rock heat setting tool to add some "stars" to the city skyline!
Terry decided to make a surprise babybag, she used the wonderful papers from Graphic 45 . The borders are distressed with Dried Marigold, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo, the flower has the same distressed colours and was made with The Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Bigz Dies and the Alphabet Letters are worked on with Crackle Accents. More details are on her blog
Nancy got this chalkboard to alter a few weeks ago - perfect fit for 'anything goes'! Some 7Gypsies Tissue Paper, Graphic45 Staples Flowers, Wendy Vecchi's Clearly for Art cut with Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die & covered with Jenni Bowlin's Mini Papers - oh, some 7Gypsies Ephemera & a Lille Tag - and Wendy's Art Parts (the stars and the ink bottle) colored with Fired Brick Distress Stain, stamped with Jet Black - and she just layered away!

Mothers were on Linda's mind as she created her sample for this week on the eve of Mother's Day and she decided to do a tribute to the soft, feminine side of motherhood with lots of flowers and pinks.  This collage/wall hanging used a lot of different  product including Claudine Helmuth Gesso and Multi Medium Matte, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die, Journaling Tickets, Melissa Francis Vintage Crepe Paper, Clear UTEE and Spellbinders dies.
So what do you get when you use.....the Big Shot, Flowers 3-D die, Tattered Floral Die, Tattered Leaves Die, a few other floral dies, Crinoline, Seam Binding, Mini Misters filled with various Distress Reinker Inks and water, Tiny Attacher and Multi Medium?? A beautiful corsage that was given to Lynne's mom on Mother's Day. FYI....she needed to use the Craft Scrubbie to clean up her hands after this creation!
Kim was inspired to draw around her hand onto shrink plastic, then adhere Patterned paper to the underside and shaped. The Wendy Vecchi art parts have been treated with cosmic shimmer effect using cafe perfect pearls, patterned paper and gear. While the shrink was out a butterfly was stamped and the back coloured with paint dabber, finished with a clock hand centre. Other ranger goodies adorn this piece too!
I am scheduling this post from Holland so I had to make my sample before I left! After decorating my first Configuration a few weeks ago I could n't wait to have a go at another one! This time I used lots of Wendy Vecchi Stamps; Grunge Paper with bits and pieces of Ideaology.
Please stop by The Design Team's individual blogs for more detailed pictures and further information on their work...Just click on their names! Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Hands!

Hello one and all! We hope you are enjoying your holiday! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... some Hands! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Lynne Forsythe
After much pondering Lynne decided how she wanted to portray.....HANDS.....by tracing her own hand onto a piece of Grungeboard. She then colored it with various Distress Inks and added Tarnished Brass and Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. She pulled out her jar of metal goodies to find Metal Watch Faces, Game Spinners, a Word Key. The Alpha Parts were just the perfect addition to her piece. For more info pop on over to her blog.
Sarah Engels-Greer
To Sarah hands are rather quirky which inspired some SteamPunk playtime! Wild Honey Distress Stain and Vintage Photo Ink are used on her canvas and various stamped images from 7 Gypsies and Artistic Outpost. Vintage etchings have been water-coloured with Distress Inks, the metal lettering created with the Chip Block die and Alcohol Inks and Glassine Paper layered underneath some original clock findings. Read more on Sarah's blog.

Candy decided to turn back the hands of time with this nostalgic "Four Generations" wall decor piece. A 7 Gypsies Librarie Drawer, turned on it's side is the perfect memory box! The hands on the hands of the embossed clock are from Tim Holtz' Steampunk Stamp Set. This piece is full of Ideaology including Vials, Sprockets and Gears, a Metal Number "4" that looks like chipped porcelain, an ever versatile Ornate Plate, a Knob and a Pocket Watch featuring a collage of Candy and her brother nestled in a Santos Hand. Check out her blog for more pictures and details.
*Hands* conjured up all sorts of images for Nancy: handmade; ranch hand; handy. Since she needed a new notebook, Nancy chose to decorate the cover with Graphic 45 hands from Communique, Graphic 45 buttons, 7 Gypsies rub-on hands on an optical lens and Idea-ology spinners (clock hands).

When Lori heard the challenge was HANDS, she immediately thought of the hand with the pointing finger from the Studio 490 Mail Art stamp set! The sign was cut from chipboard using the Hanging Sign die. The background and the sentiment on the sign are from the Studio 490 Art Colors Life stamp set. A resist technique was used with the background, which was swiped with a paint dabber in Pool. The big flower and leaves were also created with Studio 490 stamps, from Be Inspired Make Art, She Created Art, Let Your Art Have Wings, and Rose Art Part 2.
Terry made a Destiny Box, the destination of The Hand from The Tim Holtz Collection is to get into the box where there are all sorts of goodies. She used some roses on the top and the papers are from the Basic Grey Paper Curio Collection Pack and everything is distressed with Vintage Photo and Forest Moss, even the lace border is distressed. The butterflies are heat embossed. Embellishments and sentiment from Tim Holtz Philosophy Tags and a few charms are placed on the side. More details can be found on her blog
Linda decided to honor a woman's hands using a vintage glove for the Something With Hands challenge. Her project is built on a base of a vintage tin pie plate embellished with Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, Melissa Frances vintage crepe paper and lace. Other products used include Tim Holtz Paper Stash Vintage Shabby, Vintage Photo distress Ink and Claudine Hellmuth Multi-Medium Matte.
When Dan saw this week's theme, he was inspired to include a quote he's always liked, which he has complimented with this pared-down, Warhol-inspired design. Products used include tissue tape, Tim Holtz's Steampunk stamp set, Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and glossy accents. More details on Dan's blog.
When Nancy saw this saying about friends & hands, she was inspired to make this simple piece using paper cut from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology Crowded Attic paper stash for the background in a plain black frame. She then stamped Tim Holtz's Girls Rule stamp with Distress Ink Embossing Ink, finished with Black embossing powder. The saying's done with rub-on letters, the flower's one she created with tulle & glittered with Ranger's Tiara Stickles.

I decided to work on an 8 X 8" canvas art board this week. The base is coloured with Adirondack Colorwash sprays and Dabbers. The butterflies were die cut using the Tim Holtz Mover and Shaper die and the letters are Vintage Market.
Please stop by The Design Team's individual blogs for more detailed pictures and further information on their work...Just click on their names!
