Simon Says Stamp and Show a Word!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... a Wordl! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Dan
Dan chose to make a bold monochromatic statement with this "dream" of a card!  Products he used included Claudine Hellmuth paints in Classic Teal and A Smidge of Blue, Tim Holtz Winged Things 2 and Steampunk stamp sets and a Ranger Archival Jet Black ink pad.

Lynne Forsythe
Lynne chose the word "Live" and added to it.....Laugh and Love. She stamped the Flourish on a piece of distressed cardboard and embossed with UTEE. She diecut a Frame for her "words" from a piece of paper from Paper Stash. Her flowers were created using various mediums cut from various dies. She accented the bouquet with a Mini Birdcage cut from Grungeboard and a burlap bird.
"JOURNEY" is the word that Candy chose to showcase on her altered box this week. It is featuring 7 Gypsies Lille Papers. The top of the box is embellished with a Tim Holtz' Pocket Watch transformed into a compass; sitting on top of a Rosette. Filmstrip Ribbon winds its way from the compass to one of Tim's Famous Cars. Inside the box is a mini gatefold book made out of paper bags, Lille papers and 7 Gypsies embellishments!
How do you narrow something down to "one" of whatever? Especially when it's something that has millions of that whatever? Well, to come up with "a word", Nancy pulled out her stash of 7 Gypsies' Lille Tags, chose one, and started building.

Become... Sarah created a Personal Inspiration Journal from envelopes and design papers full of pockets, tags and cards stamped with heartfelt sentiments. She used Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts dress form, leaves and stamps from A Form of Art and Celestial Art on the chipboard covers, all edged with Rusty Hinge. The whole journal is covered and lined with a myriad of papers including Glitz.
The city of lights is Nancy W's word that conjures up all sorts of fabulous images. Pink Paislee's Daily Junque map paper allowed Nancy to pinpoint Paris. Tim Holtz Reflections was stamped on a piece of mica before adhering to the card front. In addition, Stampers Anonymous Fleur de Lis stamp and Graphic 45's Paris stamp from the Curtain Call collection were also used. Nancy finished off the card with Spellbinders Banners Basic 2 spelling out one of her favorite cities.

HOPE.....is the word Lori chose to feature this week....it's important!  She used the Mover and Shaper Mini Baroque and Hope die to make the sentiment.  Art Parts Flower and Stem colored with bright colors using Ranger Paint Dabbers in Pool, Lettuce and Red Pepper, and a Maya Road Vintage Button for the flower center make for a cheerful, hopeful piece!
PRECIOUS.....that's Terry's word....everything is so precious. Especially a child......so she made a card with this beautiful child on it. The borders were worked on with the Paper distresser. She used Distress inks such as, Vintage Photo, Bundled Sage and Weathered Wood to mask the background with the Art Parts from The Wendy Vecchi and the Basic Grey Curio Collection Pack. The EK success Fleur de Lis Punch was used for the borders and Crackle Accents to give it the extra look.
In honor of America's upcoming birthday, Linda chose Patriotism as her word and created an Americana art piece.  She altered a frame from the Dollar Store using Tim Holtz Lost & Found Paper Stash, Kraft Glassine paper and Journaling Tickets.  Vintage Photo Distress Ink was also used liberally over the entire piece.
The word I chose is Become! Not only does THE Wendy Vecchi do the best Flower stamps ... Butterfly stamps ... she also has some of the best text stamps around. I altered this mini book box using Wendy Vecchi Stamps, Ranger Distress Inks and a Gold Dabber.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Metal!

Hello people! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Metal! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
While there's not a lot of 'real' metal on Nancy's wedding card, there is also some faux metal. The brad & jewelry spacer in the middle of the crinoline/tulle/lace flower Nancy made are the only real metal items on the card, but the Ranger Glitz Tiara Stickles around the edge of the card front & touched onto the flower petals lends a shiny, metallic touch to the flower. Nancy used My Favorite Things' Die-Namics Decorative Doily die with grey metal cardstock to create a background for the flower - what a crisp, clean doily it cut!
You want metal...you've got metal with Candy's piece this week! She chose to make a canvas colored with Stream and Butterscotch Color Wash Sprays. It features "Row Houses" made from the new Tim Holtz Artful Dwellings Die Cut. She covered them in Foil Tape Sheets and Gold and Copper Foil Sheets that were embossed using various patterns from Tim Holtz Texture Fade Embossing Folders. Check out all of the metal Ideaology in THIS neighborhood!
Dan has always been a fan of the faux batik technique, and after not having used it for quite a while he recently rediscovered it and it forms the core of this card.  Products used include Top Boss Embossing Ink Pad, Clear Detail embossing powder, Distress Ink Pads in Walnut Stain, Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed, as well as Tim Holtz's stamp set "Floral Tattoo" and an Ornate Plate.
Nancy made this card in celebration of all June weddings. Using Graphic 45's Le Romantique images along with Spellbinders Precious Metals foil, Nancy die cut a border with Spellbinders Parisian and added a circular sentiment with Marvy 3" Scallop Circle punch and Marvy 2" Scallop Circle Punch. To finish off the design, tiny pearls were added here and there.
Lynne came across a metal lantern and knew this would be a great place to start. She pulled out a sheet of Chocolate Metal and a punch to create the borders. After adding some mesh to two of the sides, she accented it with a piece of Felt Ribbon. She then added flower clusters created with Tea Roses, Roosevelt Missus, and colored Craftable Flowers. She created some leaves with the Tattered Leaves die, Crinoline and Shabby Shutters Distress Reinker Mixture.
Ten Seconds Studio metal took the stage for Lori's project this week.  She used Golden Nugget metal, cut with the Tattered Florals die and embossed with Ten Seconds Studio tools to create the flowers.  The centers are Maya Road Bingo numbers. Black metal ran through the Bingo Texture Fade makes for an interesting background.
Kim's first thought was of Steampunk when the theme was set for this weeks challenge. She created a frame with small easel to stand and cut the opening using baroque die then with Mocha metal sheet embossed it with texture fades and used Ten Seconds Studio tools to create the decorative edge. The front had a generous dab of paint dabber burnished in. The frame has been adorned with cut gadget gears enhanced with perfect pearls, a steampunk'd butterfly plus all the various pieces from Tim's Idea-ology range.
'Loved'. Sarah really wanted to create a family keepsake and altered three metal candy tins into Antique photo frames to hold vintage photos of her mum, grandmother and great-grandmother. She set them within an embossed metal frame and mounted them onto a wall hanging embellished with rusty roses, metal findings and charm clips. Sarah used lots of Alcohol inks and Ten Seconds Studio metal. More photos and details on Sarah's blog.
Linda used two Spellbinders dies to cut a sheet of Ten Seconds Studio metal for her shabby romantic wall hanging.  Before removing the cut metal from the die, she lightly sanded the stencil areas with a burnishing block to reveal the silver colored core.  The Spellbinders scalloped heart die was used to cut another piece of metal which was then embossed with the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder and then dabbed it with Current alcohol ink. The metal key was cut with the Tim Holtz Hardware Findings die and the seam binding was dyed with Tattered Rose distress ink.
Terry made a jewellery cabinet for her daughter, with the message that the"Key is to Believe" (in yourself). The Metal sentiment is from The Tim Holtz Idea-ology Philosophy Tags. The background of the whole cabinet was masked with Vintage Photo onto the Art Part Leaves from The Wendy Vecchi, and was topped with the "real" Art Parts Leaves. It was finished with Crackle Accents. There are lots of butterflies from The Wendy Vecchi and the Floral Butterfly too, coloured with Stormy Sky
I thought I would mix up my metals a bit ... so I grabbed some Ten Seconds Studio metal and moulds ... an Ornate Plate and a canvas together with some Grunge Paper and yummy Wendy Vecchi stamps and got started. My advice is ... Don't panic about the metal theme ... even the smallest of metal embellishments or charms will qualify your work for the challenge!

Simon Says Stamp and Show Your Distressed/Torn Edges!

Happy Monday to you all! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... your Distressed/Torn Edges! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Terry
Terry was thinking what she could make because of the fab weather lately, so she made a Summer Card. She used Vintage Photo, Dried Marigold, Rusty Hinge and Stormy Sky on the card and borders and the fabulous Graphic 45 papers On the Boardwalk were used on the background. On top of the sentiment she placed the Crackle Accents to give it that extra something. The borders are made with the EK success Fleur de Lis Punch
Dan
Dan set himself the extra challenge of using a limited colour palette on this funky, retro-themed card.  Products used include the Tiny Textures and Psychedelic Grunge stamp sets and Faded Jeans and Bundled Sage Distress Ink Pads.

Nancy Crissinger
Hero Arts' Let's Garden Silhouette stamp has been sitting on Nancy's desk for a few months, waiting to be inked - and what better frame for an embossed silhouette image than one that's torn, inked, painted, distressed? Visit Nancy's blog to get more details on her wall hanging.

Candy's corrugated "cabinet card" was painted with a Juniper Paint Dabber then lightly highlighted with a Shell Pink Paint Dabber then distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. She brushed a hint of Perfect Gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water into the grooves. The attic flowers and sheer ribbons are from white organza sprayed with Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. The flowers on the Victorian vixen's hat were colorized using Cut N Dry Pen Nibs and various Distress Ink colors.
Nancy combined Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime 8x8 paper pad with Tonic's Edge Distresser to create texture and then propped it up with the help of Maya Road classic chipboard. The inside includes another fairy stamped with Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime stamp set
When Lori saw Tim's post about using the new glassine paper and Perfect Pearls, she had to try it!  The technique really added some shimmer to the glassine paper.  She chose to adhere them to a "standing card", using the new Alterations Easel dieTim's "burnt edge" technique was used to distress the edges, and an acrylic charm from Darcie Heater adds some color with a romantic flair.
Sarah's sister asked her to make a butterfly card for a special friend so Sarah indulged in her passion for torn, distressed layers and vintage tones. She used the Papillon stamp set, Vintage Photo distress ink, Claudine Hellmuth's Gesso and scraps of Kraft Glassine Paper to create her easel card.
Kim's edges are a combination of torn, ripped, distressed and even burnt effect. The steampunk theme was inspired by Tim's fabulous Steampunk stamp set and a few of the great sentiments from Stuff to Say can be found on the tabs and tags. Kim added some splats using distress stain directly onto patterned paper which had some distrezzing, tearing and distress inking.
This challenge was right up Linda's alley as she can hardly ever create anything without roughing it up and inking it up.  She decided to make a vintage wall hanging for her dad rather than sending him a Father's Day card this year.  She used stamps from these Tim Holtz sets:  Book Covers, Curiosities, The Journey and Flights of Fancy.  Inks used include Brushed Corduroy, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Ranger Jet Black Archival.  The metals were aged with Vintage Photo Distress embossing powder with a little Ginger Alcohol Ink thown on.  Crackle Accents was used on the clock face.
After a really busy week I settled down to make some tags. I ripped some paper from Tim Holtz's Lost and Found paper stack and distressed all the edges of the tags with a Tonic Edge Distresser ... which just happens to be one of my favourite tools. The background stamps are Bitty Grunge and the tags are finished off with some Adornments.

Simon Says Stamp and Show a Tag!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... the winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... a Tag! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! First take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Nancy's tag is all about monochromatic and she begins with the help of Tattered Angels Embossed Chip Tiles turned tag. After a mini-mask was created, Nancy stamped the Penny Black Fireworks stamp with black Archival ink. Then inked the tile, added Stickles to the stamp and finished it off with metallic rub-ons. Step-by-step instructions can be found on Nancy's blog.

Candy chose to make a pretty Summery tag using some of the NEW Archival Ink colors and images from two of Tim Holtz' stamp sets: Fairytale Frenzy and Spring Sprung. The #8 Manila Tag is adorned with flowers and butterflies. Notice the bodies on the multi winged butterflies? They are Tim Holtz Ideaology Pen Nibs. The colorful crinoline flowers cut from Tim Holtz' Tattered Flowers Die Cut are trimmed in coordinating Stickles. The tag is glistening with Rock Candy Stickles and the scroll is covered in Crackle Accents for a textured finish.
Terry loves the Butterflies from Wendy Vecchi, so she decided to make a Tag with this gorgeous Just flutterby Butterfly from Wendy, she worked on them with distress inks such as Forest Moss, Shabby Shutters, Rusty Hinge, Dried Marigold, Stormy Sky and the borders are done with Vintage Photo. and on top are crackle accents. They are sitting on a branch from The Art Parts from Wendy Vecchi, just like the background was masked with. The border of the Tag was worked on with the EK Succes Fleur de Lis Slim Edger Punch and to finish her project she used the Metal Brads. More details are on her blog.

Lori decided to go with one of her favorite themes for this tag.... travel! So, she started with stamps from Air Travel, Ticket to Art, and Destination Art, the new Mover and Shapers Word Die Journey, and white and clear Shrink Plastic to add some charming details to the tag!

Nancy's still in love with the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Sewing Room die - this time, cutting 3 layers of different papers to create a layered silhouette on an oversized tag. Coordinating papers were used with My Favorite Things' Die-Namics Mini Rolled Roses & Rolled Flower dies to cut flowers, then with Sizzix/Tim Holtz Tiny Tabs & Tags die, to cut tags to hang from one of the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Hanger Clips. For more detail, please visit Nancy's blog.

Sarah Engels-Greer
With Father’s Day approaching Sarah focused on family and home. She inked up her tags with lots of different Distress Inks, and used stamp sets from Wendy Vecchi including Celestial Art to create a starry road, Homemade Art and the Art Delivery Truck. Two mini Art Parts with hand-stitched stems were the perfect fit! Full details and photos on Sarah’s blog.
Kim
Kim's tag started by stamping Tim's Fabulous flourishes with silver paint dabber, then faded jeans distress ink applied all over. Inspired to try making a lily using Tim's mini leaf die, coloured using copics. Kim loves that the sentiments from stuff to say fits perfectly into the mini Heart die. Also has cut a few special words to fit in her bottle top embellishment, she used a gem gear and filled with clear Utee using her fabulous melt pot.
Lynne created her tag around the Sewing Room die. She had it in her mind to cut a silhouette of the Dressform in her tag, added a piece of embossed Distress Core'dinations paper, painted on some Multi Medium and sprinkled with Vintage Glitter Glass! The ultimate accent......the Accoutrement at the top of her tag! Check out her blog for more shabby grungeness details!
Dan started out with one of Tim Holtz's favorite manila tags and then got to work with an ink blending tool and some distress ink pads.  Stamps used included Soulful Journey, Steampunk and Psychedelic Grunge.  Elements were highlighted with an Inkssentials white pen and acrylic paint dabbers.  More details on Dan's blog.
Linda decided to do a patriotic tag for this week's challenge.  She covered a Tim Holtz tag with blue cardstock that was run through the Cuttlebug Stars embossing folder and brayered with Snow Cap Pigment Ink.  She played with some Tim Holtz techniques and Fired Brick Distress Ink on her hearts.  She also added a fragment combined with a vintage patriotic image.  A slim Melissa Frances Vintage Crepe Paper ruffle finished it off.
I have to confess to building my tag around one of the gorgeous Bottle Cap Inc Paris bottle caps ... well ... a girl has gotta start somewhere! So ... next I turned to Tim Holtz's Shabby French stamp set and I can't make a tag without Ranger Distress Inks and a bit of Idea-ology!
