Hello Everyone! We hope you are enjoying your holiday! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... some Buttons! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Lynne Forsythe
Lynne has been very IMPATIENTLY waiting for the opportunity to use her Glassine Paper and what a great time to do so. The first thing she did was crumple the paper up....then she inked it with Mustard Seed, dusted it with Perfect Pearls then used her Tattered Floral Die. She cut the left over pieces into inchies along with Sticky Back Canvas spritzed with a Scattered Straw Mister. It all matched so well with her last Accoutrement BUTTON! with the finishing accent a Dream Adage Ticket.
To showcase some of Nancy's favorite buttons, she chose to use a background of Tattered Angels Regal Embossed Chip Tiles. To this she added Liquid Pearls, Pumice Stone Distress Ink, Antique Linen Distress Ink and Jennie Bowlin buttons on a Melissa Frances die-cut. Nancy finished it off with a Prima flower and a Jennie Bowlin pin on top of miscellaneous ribbon.

Candy created this lovely vintage "Butterfly Wishes" clipboard using Tim Holtz' new Book Covers Stamp, Tattered Flowers made from Tim Holtz' new Kraft Glassine Paper Stash and crinoline sprayed with Pink Bubblegum and Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mists.  Mix in some old laces, torn organza ribbon and of course BUTTONS! One of Tim Holtz' Accoutrements Fanciful Buttons makes the perfect center for her very vintage tattered flower.
Sarah's altered book was the perfect home for a dressmakers studio and buttons galore! The Tim Holtz Haberdashery stamp set, natural Sticky-Back Canvas, Distress Stains and Glassine Paper are just a few of the materials used...read more on Sarah's blog.
Lori chose to use some old buttons to adorn the roof of her birdhouse.  The birdhouse is sitting on a base made using the Art Parts Spool, covered with Paddington Paper by 7 Gypsies. A lot of flowers cut from grungepaper using the Tattered Florals die, and a bird cut from grungeboard using the Caged Bird die help finish the piece!
Terry made a Cherish Bag, she chose to use some very old buttons from her mums knitting case. She used the papers from Basic Grey Curio Collection Pack for the background and distressed the flowers with Vintage Photo, Dried Marigold, Rusty Hinge, Worn Lipstick, Forest Moss, Shabby Shutters and embossed the butterfly with copper embossing powder and to give it the special look she used the Crackle Accents. The flowers are made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Die and the sentiment is from The Tim Holtz Idea-ology Philosophy Tags.
Kim decided to try a little canvas inspired card using some of Wendy's wonderful stamps on sticky back canvas. Distress inks, stains, embossing powder and Paint dabber. The flower is paint dabber on Art film blackout and the head is grungeboard. A few paper flowers in place of the stamped background  flowers and wooden buttons painted and glitterfied!
For the button challenge, Linda decided to alter a box to store buttons in.  She reached for her new Haberdashery stamps to create a sewing theme to decorate the box. She had fun using fiber paste to alter the cover and and for the sides she used Tissue Tape and the Haberdashery image paper from the new Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper pack.  She made a needle book with Grunge Paper and muslin. When she finished, Linda realized she had something even better to store in her new box.  You'll have to check her blog to see what's in it.
On his buttons tag Dan used Forest Moss Distress Stain to dye the white organza ribbon, in addtion to Fired Brick and Wild Honey Distress Stain elsewhere on the tag.  He used the World Traveller stamp set on a piece of Kraft Resist cardstock and an accoutrement button was the perfect finishing touch!  More details on Dan's blog.
I chose to display my buttons in the smallest of Tim Holtz's configurations! Using Tissue Tape; Crowded Attic paper and lots of other pieces of Idea-Ology including the Accoutrements.

Simon Says Stamp and Show a Lord Tim of Holtz Technique!

Hello Everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... a Lord Tim of Holtz Technique! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Lynne Forsythe

Lynne chose to use the Dabber Resist Technique....She had just recently acquired some new goodies and just couldn't WAIT to PLAY with them!! Don't you just love how the Tim Holtz Dress Form just pops with the Distress Stains and Pearl Paint Dabber. Look how the Tim Holtz Experience stamp fits perfectly on Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts ~ Dress Forms and More. Check out her blog for more info!

Dan
Dan used Tim Holtz's Kraft Resist Card Stack to try a variant on his Blended Batik technique from A Compendium of Curiosities.  Other products used included a Configurations Box, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and the Bitty Grunge and Artful Artifacts stamp sets.  More details on Dan's blog!

Sarah Engels-Greer
Sarah went for Tim, Tags and Techniques and indulged in lavish and vivid tones with her creations. Distress inks, Glass Fragments and Mini-Ornate Stamps came along for the journey. More photographs and details can be found on her blog.
For inspiration, Nancy turned to Compendium of Curiosities and found one of her favorite techniques on page 36, Blended Batik. After completing this technique on a Tim Holtz mini-label die, she added Graphic 45 Steampunk background paper, a Graphic 45 fairy, some miscellaneous rub-ons and finished it off with a Tim Holtz butterfly resting on a Spellbinders fancy tag die.
Nancy's been planning this Tim Holtz Configurations Shadowbox for months, as a wedding gift for her cousins. Using Grungeboard Alphabet Soup letters & Plain Shapes, she made blocks as Tim does - Ranger's Vintage Photo Distress Stain made the process go so fast!

Candy Colwell
Candy chose to mix several Tim Holtz techniques with Wendy Vecchi Art Parts to create this funky ART canvas. She used a twist on Tim's grungeblock technique to make the ART houses and then referred to Tim's Compendium of Curiosities technique, on page 41, to put a shiny "Rusted Enamel" finish on them.  Hop on over to her blog to check out all the techniques and elements she incorporated into this creative "artsy" piece!

Terry
Terry made a Once upon a Spring tag...to celebrate the Spring. She loves the Tim Holtz Distressing and Embossing Technique and made 3 different flowers from The Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die and colored with Vintage Photo, Fired Brick, Forest Moss and Shabby Shutters. The butterfly is embossed with the Copper colored emboss powder. More detailed pictures are on her blog.
Kim has included a few Tim Techniques... hard not to really! This atc size note book has had the shabby chic treatment from Compendium of curiosities (pg 49) using grungeboard and Bitty grunge. The grunge key hole, corners have had the rusted metal technique. Kim used the cinch to bind and added a fragment, label and philosophy tag on a swivel clasp.
Lori decided to go with one of the basic techniques, embossed grungeboard, using the Rays Texture Fade.  Some Studio 490 stamps from Gentleman's Art, Tools for Art, and Rose Art Part 2 Idea-ology Sprockets and Gears and the Sizzix Gadget Gears die helped complete this "taste of Steampunk" hanging!
Linda's tiny triptych has two Tim Holtz techniques on its cover.  She used the Rock Candy Distress Stickles technique over the entire surface of the cover and then she altered the Tim Holtz Foliage using Tim's Altered Metal with Paint technique.  The letters were cut with Tim's Vintage Market die and misted with a solution of Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls, Vintage Photo reinker and water.  Be sure to stop by Linda's blog to see photos of the front and back panels of her spring triptych.
I got distracted by Tim's wonderful mirror project in the Compendium of Curiosities ... so I followed Tim's technique for the Fragments to make my own smaller version of the mirror. I finished off with some Idea-ology and a few The Wendy Vecchi's mini butterflies.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Distressing!

Greetings! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Distressing! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
To me Distressing is just the best thing ever! My tag is coloured using Distress Stains and Colour Washes. I have worked on the edges with a Distressing tool and some Vintage Photo Distress inks. The stamps are Wendy Vecchi, the butterfly, ribbon, tape and baubles are all from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology line.
Inspired by Wendy's fabulous stamp set Kim created an art binder using creative-covers collaged with old book pages applied with Claudine Helmuth's Matte Medium, covered with gesso. Stamped book cover stamp with distress ink and distress embossing. Secured ring binder inside. Kim has a tutorial on her
Tattered florals flower. Adorned with leaf art part painted with crackle paint. Then added letters using shrink plastic, paint dabber and glossy accents.
To Sarah distressing means lots of torn edges and playing with Distress Inks! She made and painted her shadow-bow, aged it with Vintage Photo, and filled it with many distressed layers including stitched Kraft Glassine paper. The new Hero Arts image is stamped using a resist technique with White Stazon and Brushed Corduroy inks. The box frame has been decorated and includes flowers cut with Tattered Florals. Read more on Sarah's blog...
Terry decided to make a perfume wrapping. The Distress inks that she used are Vintage Photo, victorian velvet, forest moss and fired brick and were also used on the flowers that were made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die. The small flowers are worked on with Holographic embossing powder to give it the sparkle. She made the borders with a Martha Stewart Punch and the papers are from Steampunk Debutante. More details are on her Blog.
After last weeks "anything but a card" theme, Dan was itching to get back to cardmaking, which he's really enjoying right now! He used the Retro Grunge card stack (it practically has the distress built in!) to make this gift set of 5 coordinating notecards and envelopes in a matching box. Other products used included "The Countdown" stamp set, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and an ink blending tool. More details on Dan's blog!
Distressing.....Lynne would normally run to her Distress Inks, but this time she decided to go with another type of ink, Color Wash. Lynne had been wanting to try something different, Batik. She pulled out her Melting Pot, Beeswax and pariffin. Brushed the wax on the Canvas Corp Tag inside a stencil created using the Sewing Room die. When cooled, she spritzed on various Color Wash colors. Then melted the applied wax with her Heat Tool. She accented her girl with a Liquid Pearl necklace and a hung a Bauble from her waist on a Jump Ring.
Distressing to Nancy means several things but the first thing that comes to mind is using ink. On this mini-book project, she used Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and ran it along the cut edges of each Graphic 45 paper so as not to show the white cut edge. Nancy thinks you can still use bright colors and achieve the distress look she so loves.

This week, Candy decided to try distressing some canvases. She made this piece using various sized canvases, papers from Tim Holtz' Lost and Found Paper Stash, various Distress Inks for added color,a heart made from Black UTEE, Adirondak's Pool Dabber for antiquing, Ideaology elements, Stripes Grungeboard and the Ornate On The Edge die cut. After she finished putting it all together, she encased it in Ranger's Natural Melt Art Beeswax . Distressing can be FUN!
Lori chose to make some Easter home decor in the shape of a chunky ATC, using the Tim Holtz Seasonal Paper Stack and Stickers, which she distressed using the Tonic Paper Distresser. She also used the Spring Sprung stamp set, and some Art Institute Vintage Glass Glitter adhered with Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.
Nancy's use of tissue paper as a surface for stamping made the perfect base for a canvas she created to encourage a friend in her battle with cancer. 7 Gypsies' Avignon stamps are a great size to use with the 5x7 canvas and Ranger's Confection Perfect Pearls in Gumball, mixed with gel medium & Art Institute Glass Glitter, worked well to give the surface a bit of texture.

Linda was eager to try out the new Tim Holtz Kraft Resist Paper Stash and her new Papillon stamp set and thought together they would make the perfect distressed project.  She created a binder cover for her Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp sets.  Everything was ink distressed with Vintage Photo distress ink including the muslin cloth used for the bow and fabric flower and she tried out her new Vintage Photo Distress Stain on the Grungeboard flourish.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Anything But a Card!

Hello one, Hello all! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... anything but a card! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
Kim constructed a notebook portfolio with the new Tim Holtz crowded attic Paper as a background. Created and embellished a dress form using grungeboard, grungepaper and Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky-Back Canvas. Added angel wings and a few layered flowers cut with vintage shabby paper and the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die.
Dan

Dan made this fun gift by making a new cover for a store-bought notepad.  Products he used include the Going Somewhere and Royal Script stamp sets, the Lost and Found card stack and the Bind-it-all. More details on Dan's blog!

Terry

Baby's and boxes make a Babybox....So Terry decided to make a cute little babybox. Vintage photo, victorian velvet, forest moss and fired brick were used on the flower that was made with the Tim Holtz Floral Die. And the most beautiful thing is of course the Graphic 45 paperpack.

Lynne Forsythe
It all began with a box, a pad of Kraft Resist paper, some Distress Stains, a jug of Multi Medium, a bit of Distress Stickles.....oh yeah, some Tissue Tape and a WAY COOL STAMP!! and this is what Lynne came up with......definitely not a card!!!

Lori Hassler
Lori chose to make a jewellery piece using Darcie's Acrylic House Charm , 7 Gypsies Conservatory paper, and Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type. When it's not serving as a pendant or brooch, it can be attached to a small framed piece with some jump rings and a hitch fastener!

Sarah was in the mood for up-cycling and spring colour with her altered paper bag. Claudine Helmuth's Gesso was the base for stencilling with Rusty Hinge and Bundled Sage Distress Inks. The flowers are made with various Graphic 45 papers and the lettering with the Tim Holtz Chip Block die. See Sarah's blog for more photos and details...

For this challenge, Nancy made a butterfly tag using the new Tim Holtz Paper Stash as a background, Copic Markers for coloring the butterflies and alcohol ink to grunge it up a bit.

Candy chose to create this little grunge/vintage cottage with an emphasis on all sorts of elements from the Tim Holtz line. From his Lost and Found Paper Stash, the new Crowded Attic and Lost and Found Salvage Stickers, to the new Plaquettes and all sorts of Ideaology, this house is grunge fun! Check out Candy's blog for a home tour!

A spring collage with lots of ink distressing with Vintage Photo distress ink is Linda's take on the challenge. She used her trusty Tattered Florals die to create the handmade crinoline flowers on her forsythia branch as well as the flower that sits atop the rosette. Stamps from Tim Holtz Mini Classics and Mini Holidays have been used as well as a Journaling Ticket and the Tim Holtz Hardware Findings die.

Nancy's having such a blast with Wendy Vecchi's Art Parts - can't seem to use them enough! The Spool Set's her latest starting point, combined with some of her Frames & Borders. And, look! She used 7Gypsies paper products this week - Lille in the largest frame & a Mini Gypsy Card in the middle. The front frame's more of the same paper, stamped with a Wendy Vecchi Art Gone Postal stamp.
I headed straight for my Art Parts too ... the circle frame. I then filled it with Grunge paper flowers and canvas butterflies. All stamps are Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 and the chip frame is Maya Road.
