Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Distressing!

Greetings! Thank you for playing along with last week's challenge ... The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Some Distressing! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! To start you on your way... take a look at some inspiration from the Design Team ...
To me Distressing is just the best thing ever! My tag is coloured using Distress Stains and Colour Washes. I have worked on the edges with a Distressing tool and some Vintage Photo Distress inks. The stamps are Wendy Vecchi, the butterfly, ribbon, tape and baubles are all from Tim Holtz's Idea-ology line.
Inspired by Wendy's fabulous stamp set Kim created an art binder using creative-covers collaged with old book pages applied with Claudine Helmuth's Matte Medium, covered with gesso. Stamped book cover stamp with distress ink and distress embossing. Secured ring binder inside. Kim has a tutorial on her
Tattered florals flower. Adorned with leaf art part painted with crackle paint. Then added letters using shrink plastic, paint dabber and glossy accents.
To Sarah distressing means lots of torn edges and playing with Distress Inks! She made and painted her shadow-bow, aged it with Vintage Photo, and filled it with many distressed layers including stitched Kraft Glassine paper. The new Hero Arts image is stamped using a resist technique with White Stazon and Brushed Corduroy inks. The box frame has been decorated and includes flowers cut with Tattered Florals. Terry decided to make a perfume wrapping. The Distress inks that she used are Vintage Photo, victorian velvet, forest moss and fired brick and were also used on the flowers that were made with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die. The small flowers are worked on with Holographic embossing powder to give it the sparkle. She made the borders with a Martha Stewart Punch and the papers are from Steampunk Debutante. More details are on her Blog.
After last weeks "anything but a card" theme, Dan was itching to get back to cardmaking, which he's really enjoying right now! He used the Retro Grunge card stack (it practically has the distress built in!) to make this gift set of 5 coordinating notecards and envelopes in a matching box. Other products used included "The Countdown" stamp set, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and an ink blending tool. More details on Dan's blog!
Distressing.....Lynne would normally run to her Distress Inks, but this time she decided to go with another type of ink, Color Wash. Lynne had been wanting to try something different, Batik. She pulled out her Melting Pot, Beeswax and pariffin. Brushed the wax on the Canvas Corp Tag inside a stencil created using the Sewing Room die. When cooled, she spritzed on various Color Wash colors. Then melted the applied wax with her Heat Tool. She accented her girl with a Liquid Pearl necklace and a hung a Bauble from her waist on a Jump Ring.
Distressing to Nancy means several things but the first thing that comes to mind is using ink. On this mini-book project, she used Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and ran it along the cut edges of each Graphic 45 paper so as not to show the white cut edge. Nancy thinks you can still use bright colors and achieve the distress look she so loves.

This week, Candy decided to try distressing some canvases. She made this piece using various sized canvases, papers from Tim Holtz' Lost and Found Paper Stash, various Distress Inks for added color,a heart made from Black UTEE, Adirondak's Pool Dabber for antiquing, Ideaology elements, Stripes Grungeboard and the Ornate On The Edge die cut. After she finished putting it all together, she encased it in Ranger's Natural Melt Art Beeswax . Distressing can be FUN!
Lori chose to make some Easter home decor in the shape of a chunky ATC, using the Tim Holtz Seasonal Paper Stack and Stickers, which she distressed using the Tonic Paper Distresser. She also used the Spring Sprung stamp set, and some Art Institute Vintage Glass Glitter adhered with Art Institute Dries Clear Adhesive.
Nancy's use of tissue paper as a surface for stamping made the perfect base for a canvas she created to encourage a friend in her battle with cancer. 7 Gypsies' Avignon stamps are a great size to use with the 5x7 canvas and Ranger's Confection Perfect Pearls in Gumball, mixed with gel medium & Art Institute Glass Glitter, worked well to give the surface a bit of texture.

Linda was eager to try out the new Tim Holtz Kraft Resist Paper Stash and her new Papillon stamp set and thought together they would make the perfect distressed project.  She created a binder cover for her Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp sets.  Everything was ink distressed with Vintage Photo distress ink including the muslin cloth used for the bow and fabric flower and she tried out her new Vintage Photo Distress Stain on the Grungeboard flourish.
